We can learn many subjects through study and experience alone in this world. We learn more about ourselves and the subjects at hand through books, practices, and other forms of preparation. However, we cannot know about our interests and emotions in these experiences. Ambition is much like motivation. Discipline is the repetition of the habits we exhibit daily. We do have more control over this. There’s less emotion involved in repetition (if you exclude boredom).
With Ambition, we must have a goal in mind. Sometimes, people will already have one. Other times, people acquire a goal from others or experiences or finish one goal and move on to the next. Some goals repeat, others do not. But ambition does not repeat. Ambition is a journey—an emotional journey, though sometimes. The journey can be long. The waves can go up and down, sometimes stopping at the shore, other times crashing hard, and sometimes simply stopping and having no movement. Water is constant, always flowing. Our dreams and goals are much like the energy water carries in the waking world.
Everyone has ambition at some point in their life. To reach the end of ambition is different. Since ambition cannot be taught, it could be argued that ambition is untaught or misdirected from us at specific points in our lives. The willpower of each individual and what they strive for is a part of the ambition inside each of us. This is an age-old question. When does the student learn? When is the master no longer required?
Questions upon Ambition
To find the opposite of learning, the opposite of wisdom, ignorance, one must choose to stay in it. What is gained is not lost. It’s a puzzling idea to ponder. Who can take away what you learn and what you acquire within you? For your will and for you to succeed, finding ambition in yourself is paramount to who you will become. Often, the journey is a process of becoming, not a process of realization. After the journey ends, one realizes what it means to go through the process of becoming oneself.
We focus so much on the end goal, but becoming part of what your ambition will take you is so much more important. That is why a question (the right question) is what will provide you with true wisdom. Not the answer but the question. What motivates you? What drives you? What is your ambition? We all have it. Sharing it is one thing; fulfilling it is another. Always keep accomplishing and become more than who you are. There are no limits to our being, none. Once we can all fully embody this and believe in the impossible, nothing can stop an ambition from being fulfilled. We are our own worst enemy. Conquering it in our way will reveal much to you that nothing else in this world can.
When you can find and reach answers and conclusions to many questions on your own, it is a different experience- owning it for sure. There is much more I can write about this. Find your ambition, and the world will provide. Ambition unfulfilled is truly a tragedy.
